Swayambhu saint asaram
Ahmedabad: The Gujarat High Court on Friday extended the temporary bail of self -proclaimed saint Asaram, who was serving a life imprisonment in the 2013 rape case citing medical reasons, for three months. On January 7, the High Court gave Asaram an interim bail in the rape case registered by the Gujarat Police till 31 March. He is currently undergoing Ayurvedic treatment in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. The three -month period was scheduled to end on Monday, so his lawyers requested the Gujarat High Court to provide additional bail for three months.
Relief for treatment
86 -year -old Asaram, who is serving a life sentence, has been given relief to treat his heart disease and other health problems. According to the information, Asaram had demanded six months of interim bail from the High Court. The matter went to the larger bench due to the separate opinion of the two-judge bench. The bench sanctioned three months interim bail during the hearing.
