Border Security Force (BSF) shot down Pakistani drone in Firozpur, Punjab. There was an attempt to transport heroin and pistol through this drone. BSF spokesperson said that alert BSF personnel on duty opened fire to intercept a drone activity in the border area and activated technical counter measures to neutralize it. After this, a search operation was started by BSF in the suspected dropping zone.
The spokesperson said that the troops successfully recovered the fallen drone in Ferozepur area along with a packet of suspected heroin. The recovered drone has been identified as a Chinese-made DJI Mavic-3 Classic. This was the second seizure by BSF Punjab troops within 24 hours, where a drone and narcotics were recovered, officials said. Earlier on Friday, BSF shot down a drone carrying heroin in Amritsar. The spokesperson said that in the morning, alert BSF personnel on duty spotted a drone activity in the border area of district Amritsar and then it was shot down.
Infiltration efforts intensify in Kashmir valley
On the other hand, a senior BSF officer said that with the approach of winter season, infiltration efforts in Kashmir Valley have intensified. Around 150 terrorists are waiting at various launch pads across the Line of Control (LoC), but security forces will foil any such attempt. BSF Inspector General Ashok Yadav said, ‘Infiltration attempts are going on. We coordinate with the Army to plan border control based on intelligence received from various agencies. We also take into account the number of terrorists at the launching pad, which helps us in formulating our strategy and planning to counter the terrorists.
