Baba Siddique Murder Case: Mumbai Crime Branch on Sunday arrested Salman Vohra, a resident of Gujarat, from Akola, Maharashtra in the Baba Siddiqui murder case, taking the number of people arrested in this sensational murder case to 25. Baba Siddiqui, 66, was shot dead near the office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui in Nirmal Nagar area of Bandra East on October 12. He was a leader of NCP. Salmanbhai Iqbalbhai Vohra, a resident of Petlad in Anand district of Gujarat, has been arrested from Balapur in Akola, about 565 km from the metropolis, with the help of the police there.
This information has been given in media reports quoting an officer. The officer said Vohra had opened a bank account in May this year and provided financial assistance to arrested accused Gurmail Singh, Rupesh Mohol and Harishkumar’s brother Nareshkumar Singh. He has also helped other people associated with crime. Gurmel Singh of Haryana and Dharamraj Kashyap of Uttar Pradesh were caught from the spot soon after the murder.
The police recently got a major breakthrough in the case when they arrested the alleged main shooter Shivkumar Gautam from Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. According to police, Gautam was absconding since October 12 and was caught while trying to flee to Nepal.
Akash Deep Gill arrested from Fazilka, Punjab
Another accused Akash Deep Gill was also arrested in Fazilka, Punjab. Both the suspects were produced in the vacation court and remanded to police custody. Anti-extortion cell investigating officer Arun Thorat told the court that Gill coordinated between the operators and the shooters, while Vohra helped in financial transactions. “We want to investigate the source of the money and find out who directed these transfers,” Thorat told the court.
