Baba Siddiqui murder case: Mumbai Police has detained two more people in connection with the Baba Siddiqui murder case. One of the detained has been identified as Harish Kumar Balkaram (23). Police have caught him from Bahraich in Uttar Pradesh. It is said that Balkaram had provided money to the shooters. With the custody of these two, the number of people in police custody has increased to five. The name of the other detained person is not yet clear.
Mumbai Police has already arrested Gurmail Singh, Dharamraj Kashyap and Praveen Lonkar. Singh and Kashyap are reportedly the shooters, while Lonkar is reportedly the ‘co-conspirator’. Another suspect Shivkumar Gautam is absconding. He is also a resident of Bahraich and is suspected to be the third shooter.
Mumbai Police has recovered the gun used in the murder of Baba Siddiqui. This is the third gun seized by the police. After interrogating the accused, the police found a black bag near the spot, which contained a gun.
Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddiqui (66) was shot dead outside the Bandra office of his MLA son Zeeshan Siddiqui on October 12. The accused had shot Siddiqui during the ongoing celebrations in Bandra area on the day of Dussehra. Siddiqui was taken to Lilavati Hospital after the shooting, but he was declared dead at 11:27 pm. The Lawrence Bishnoi gang has claimed responsibility for the murder through a post on social media. Reconstruction of the massacre shows that the three shooters and a co-conspirator were standing near Baba Siddiqui’s car. As soon as Baba Siddiqui came out of the office and tried to go inside the car, the killers released some device due to which the entire area was filled with thick smoke. Many people thought it was smoke from firecrackers.
Mumbai Crime Branch has formed several teams to arrest Shivkumar Gautam, who is still absconding. Another suspect Mohammad Zeeshan Akhtar is also absconding. The murder investigation is looking into contract killing, political or business rivalry, issues related to slum rehabilitation projects and many other aspects.
