Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir have been held in three phases from September 18. Voting took place in the third and final phase on October 1. The results of the elections will be declared on October 8. Before the results, the Election Commission has instructed the administration of the Union Territory to stop the salary increase of 50 government employees. He is accused of participating in the election campaign in violation of the model code of conduct. They have already been suspended. Apart from the suspension of 50 government employees and officers, 11 contractual workers have been dismissed from their jobs. Investigation has also been started against the suspended employees.
Jammu and Kashmir Chief Electoral Officer PK Pole has directed all District Election Officers or Deputy Commissioners (DCs) to take strict action against all government employees and officials who were involved in election campaigning during the Model Code of Conduct period. .
“During the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) period, complaints were received against around 50 government employees and officials for their involvement in election campaigning,” the DC said. He was suspended after preliminary investigation found his involvement. This matter should be investigated thoroughly and if the allegations are found true, the salary increase of the employees should be stopped. This should also be mentioned in their service book so that a strong message can be sent to them and other like-minded employees.”
11 employees laid off
Officials said five employees were suspended on September 6 for participating in political activities and further investigation was initiated against them. On September 23, 21 employees were suspended for their involvement in political campaigning, including five contractual employees who were fired from their jobs. On September 29, 23 officials were suspended, besides six contractual employees, after being found involved in election campaigning and related political activities. Apart from the suspension, around 40 employees were removed from the offices where they were posted during this period.
