Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has appealed to PM Modi to call a meeting of Chief Ministers of all the states on the issue of stubble. Speaking to the media, Mann said that the issue of stubble burning is not limited to any one state. This is an issue of entire North India. Prime Minister Modi should call a meeting on this and resolve this issue. He said that if Prime Minister Modi can stop the Ukraine war, as he has shown in the advertisement, then can’t he stop the smoke here? They should hold a meeting of all the states, give compensation and call scientists.
Chief Minister Mann said that whichever state the farmer belongs to, he does not want to rake the stubble, but he has no other option. Farmers do not want to grow paddy but MSP is not available on any other alternative crop, so what should a farmer do if he does not grow paddy? Mann said that when paddy is produced and the grain stores in the country are filled, the farmer is praised, but when it comes to stubble, the farmer is proven guilty. Efforts are made to impose fine on them.
Delhi’s sky filled with smoke
Every year before winter, smoke is visible in the sky of Delhi. Due to this the life of common people gets disturbed. On the question of worsening weather in Delhi, Punjab CM Mann said that I do not know whether the smoke of stubble burning in Punjab reaches Delhi or not, but I know this much that this smoke is hurting the farmer of Punjab, his family and his village the most. Causes harm. We need to get this stopped.
Farmers need compensation, not incentives: CM Mann
CM Mann said that the Central Government is continuously asking our government to encourage the farmers but encouragement does not work, we need to take practical steps. Our government has given 1.25 lakh machines to the farmers. We are working continuously and are also demanding from the Central Government to help the farmers.
