After a case of sexual abuse of a three and a half year old girl came to light in a private school in Bhopal, the police sealed the school on Thursday. Also, the officials said that action is being taken to cancel the recognition of the school. The case came to light when the girl’s mother saw scratch marks on her private parts. After this, when the girl was questioned, she told about indecent touch. A teacher of the school was doing wrong things with the girl.
Giving information about this case, the police said that the Bhopal district administration sealed a private school on Thursday because one of its teachers was sexually harassing a minor girl studying in the school. Regarding this, SDM (Sub-Divisional Magistrate) Archana Sharma said, ‘We have sealed the school building and the process of cancelling its recognition has been started. A committee has also been formed to investigate the matter and we will complete the investigation within two days.’
After the news of sexual abuse of the girl came to light, common people including parents of children studying in the school and members of various social organizations protested outside the school regarding the incident of sexual abuse. Some protesters broke the signboard of the school and burnt the effigy of the accused outside the campus. During this, the protesters demanded death penalty for the accused.
Earlier on Wednesday, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav condemned the incident and ordered strict action against the accused. CM Yadav posted a video on Instagram and wrote, ‘A case of rape of a three-year-old innocent girl by a school teacher in Bhopal has come to my notice. I have ordered strict action, and will also try to get justice in this case through a special court. This act is extremely disgusting, shameful and reprehensible.’
The accused school teacher was arrested after the girl’s parents complained. The accused has been identified as Qasim Rehan, who was working as an IT expert in the school.
According to the police, a complaint was lodged at the Kamla Nagar police station regarding the sexual assault of a three-and-a-half-year-old girl. Acting on the complaint, the police have registered a case against the accused under sections 74 and 75 of the Indian Penal Code (BNS) and the POCSO Act.
Bhopal Police Commissioner Harinarayanchari Mishra told ANI, “The accused is a teacher in the same school where the girl studied. He has been identified and arrested.” He added, “Since the victim is very young, it took some time for the incident to come to light, but when we received the complaint, we acted immediately and arrested the accused.”
