6 people drowned in Kheda
Kheda: A major accident took place in Kheda district of Gujarat on Wednesday evening. Six members of the same family drowned in the river here, most of which were cousins. According to the police, the incident took place in Kaniz village.
Kheda Superintendent of Police Rajesh Garhia said, “Six people, including four women and two men, were all cousins and siblings. Their age – 14-21 years is being told. All these were all going to bathe in the Meshwo river near Kheda. All 6 people drowned.” According to police, the bodies of all six people have been evacuated from the river.
Police said two of the six victims are residents of Kaniz village and four are their cousins, who came to meet him from Ahmedabad. Officials said that after receiving information about the incident, a team of Mahamadabad Police and Fire Department reached the spot and started rescue operations.
Nine Bangladeshis detained
The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Gujarat has detained nine Bangladeshis illegally living in India from Ahmedabad and Vadodara cities. The GRP has achieved this success as part of an operation against illegal migrants after the attack in Pahalgam in South Kashmir on 22 April. In a post made on the social media forum ‘X’, Gujarat Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said that five “illegal Bangladeshi citizens” were detained at Ahmedabad railway station, while four others were arrested on 27 April at Vadodara railway station. He said that it was clear from the identity cards of the detained people that they had illegally entered India from Bangladesh.
