Bulldozers went again in Chandola Lake area of Ahmedabad.
Ahmedabad: The administration has started strict action on Tuesday against illegal construction in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Today, about 2.5 thousand illegal houses will be demolished under the second phase in Chandola Talab area of the city. In the first phase, bulldozers were run on about 3 thousand houses in the area. Large -scale preparations have been made for the second phase of action on illegal houses. The administration has deployed 75 bulldozers and 150 dumpers to run the action smoothly. Also, 8 thousand policemen have been deployed for security.
Most houses of illegal Bangladeshi citizens
Let us know that earlier on 29 and 30 April, about 3 thousand illegal houses were demolished in the first phase of the campaign, mostly illegal Bangladeshi citizens. In the second phase, the administration is targeting more than two and a half thousand illegal constructions. Explain that the Gujarat Police has detained thousands of illegal Bangladeshi citizens in the last few weeks, of which a large number of Bangladeshi living in Ahmedabad are also included. The purpose of this action going on in Chandola Lake area is to remove illegal occupations and tighten the intruders.
Illegal occupation started in the 1970s-80s
The area of Chandola Lake had long been a stronghold of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, where a network of human trafficking and fake documents was spread. Illegal occupation in this area started in the 1970s-80s, when a large number of migrant settlements were settled here. In 2002, an NGO settled a settlement in the region under the name of Sattasat Nagar. After this, illegal occupations on the land of Chandola Lake between 2010 and 2024 increased. According to the administration, people in this area made large -scale illegal constructions, including many illegal Bangladeshi citizens.
