Himachal Pradesh Weather: The nights have become cold due to the drop in minimum temperature amid the ongoing dry season in Himachal Pradesh. Thursday night was the coldest night of the season in the state and the mercury dropped below zero. The minimum temperature was -0.9 degree Celsius recorded in Tabo of tribal district Lahaul-Spiti. For the first time in the winter season, the mercury has reached below the freezing point in Lahaul-Spiti. The temperature has dropped rapidly in many places of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur and Shimla districts.
The situation is that in Lahaul-Spiti and other high mountain areas including Kinnaur, natural water sources, rivers and springs have started freezing due to severe cold at night. There will be a change in the weather due to the activation of Western Disturbance in the state on October 22 and it is expected to rain in the central and high mountain areas. During this period, there are also chances of snowfall in higher altitude areas. Even on October 24, the weather will remain bad in high altitude areas. This will increase the severity of cold in the mountainous areas.
According to the report of Meteorological Center Shimla, the night temperature has dropped by 0.4 degrees during the last 24 hours. The minimum temperature was recorded at 1.6 degrees in Kukumseri of Lahaul-Spiti district, 2.1 degrees in Keylong, 4.4 degrees in Kalpa of Kinnaur, 5.5 degrees in Samdho and 7.7 degrees in Reckong Peo. The minimum temperature in Narkanda in Shimla district was 7.9 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature in famous tourist destination Manali was 8.2 degrees Celsius. However, the temperature in Shimla city remains above normal. Minimum temperature in Shimla was 12.4 degrees, Sundernagar 12.1 degrees, Bhuntar 10.6 degrees, Dharamshala 15.6 degrees, Una 14.6 degrees, Nahan 17.9 degrees, Palampur 12.5 degrees, Solan 10.4 degrees, Kangra 14.2 degrees, Mandi 15.5 degrees. degrees, 16.5 degrees in Bilaspur, 14.1 degrees in Chamba, 13.7 degrees in Dalhousie, 14.5 degrees in Jubbarhatti, 10.9 degrees in Kufri, 11.2 degrees in Bharmour, 16.7 degrees in Dhaula Kuan and 15 degrees Celsius has been recorded in Kasauli.
Light rain in Palampur, weather will remain clear for next three days
Meanwhile, there was sunshine at other places in the state including the capital Shimla on Friday. Palampur in Kangra district has received seven mm rainfall in the last 24 hours. Director of Meteorological Center, Shimla, Kuldeep Srivastava said that the weather will remain dry across the state on October 19, 20 and 21. On October 22, there is a possibility of rain and snowfall in other parts except the plains. The weather is expected to remain clear on October 23, while on October 24, there is a possibility of snowfall in the upper reaches of Lahaul-Spiti, Kinnaur, Kullu and Chamba districts.
