Bihar Aqi: During the last 24 hours, the air quality in Araria district was 97 which is satisfactory. Apart from this, AQI has been recorded at 145 in Aurangabad, 134 in Bihar Sharif and 165 in Buxar.

Bihar Aqi: While air pollution starts increasing as the winter season approaches, the level of noise pollution also increases during Diwali. To ensure that air and noise pollution do not increase together, Bihar State Pollution Control Board will run an awareness campaign for prevention of air and noise pollution in 14 districts of the state from October 24. The Pollution Control Board has appealed to other districts including Patna not to use fireworks. According to the information available on the website of the Central Pollution Control Board, the AQI of the capital Patna has been recorded at 128 at 9 am. The air quality in Araria district during the last 24 hours was 97 which is satisfactory. Apart from this, AQI has been recorded at 145 in Aurangabad, 134 in Bihar Sharif, 165 in Buxar, 266 in Hajipur, 127 in Gaya. The air quality in Gaya remained moderate. The air quality index in Muzaffarpur during this period was 182.

Campaign will run in these districts

Patna, Muzaffarpur, Gaya, Nalanda, Begusarai, Bettiah, Katihar, Saharsa, Siwan, Bhagalpur, Motihari, Purnia, Darbhanga and Saran.

Danger of noise pollution also

Fireworks during Diwali spoil the air of the city and there is a possibility of increase in noise pollution due to loud noise. The Pollution Control Board will make people aware through street plays in 14 districts of the state including Patna. The awareness campaign of Pollution Control Board will continue till 28th. People will be made aware through street plays at 168 places in all the identified districts. The Pollution Control Board has installed air quality monitoring stations in these districts only. The air of all these cities remains in poor category.

Noise pollution will be investigated on Diwali

The Pollution Control Board will check noise pollution in three phases on the day of Diwali, before and after it. Pollution Control Board teams will be present at major intersections and places of Patna city. The loud noise caused by fireworks will be checked till 12 midnight on the day of Diwali. In the places where investigation is to be done, loud noise will be measured at major places from Patna City to Danapur. Boring Road intersection, Kankarbagh and other places will be included in it. Last time there were huge fireworks on Diwali.
