Bihar: RJD Legislative Councilor (MLC) Urmila Thakur created a stir in political circles by making a shocking statement in the past. At the unveiling ceremony of Baba Saheb Bhimrao Ambedkar’s statue held at Gaighat in Muzaffarpur district, he compared party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav to Lord Shiva.
In his address, Urmila Thakur said, “Just as there is a Lord Shiva, the living Lord Lalu Prasad in Kalyug.” He further said that no one can replace Lord Rama, Lord Krishna and Bhishma Pitamah, similarly Lalu Prasad Yadav has no alternative in politics. Describing Lalu Yadav’s contribution in politics as incomparable, Thakur said, “Many leaders came and gone in the political world, but no one like Lalu ji will happen and will not happen.” Describing Lalu Yadav as “Bhishma Pitamah of politics”, he attacked the Congress indirectly and said that those who were in power before 1990 will no longer be able to return to power.
Sharing personal experiences, he said, “My father once used to shave in 5 kg of grains, but today his daughter has become a member of the Legislative Council, it was possible only because of Lalu Yadav.” Praising Tejashwi Yadav, he said that he does what he says. He also called Lalu Yadav a “biggest socialist leader in the world”. After this statement by Urmila Thakur, a period of reaction in Bihar politics has begun. Leaders of opposing parties have called it excesses and flattery.
