Bihar Hooch Tragedy: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s liquor ban policy seems to be failing in the state. Despite the implementation of prohibition policy, the trade of spurious liquor is flourishing very fast in many areas of Bihar. Meanwhile, the death toll due to poisonous liquor in the border areas of Siwan and Chapra has reached 48. Many people suffering from poisonous liquor are still undergoing treatment in hospitals. The condition of many of these people remains critical.
After the deaths due to poisonous liquor, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has once again come under attack. Attacking Nitish, Jansuraj Party leader Prashant Kishore said that Nitish Kumar has proved to be a complete failure on the liquor ban front and liquor ban is applicable only in government files. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has directed to thoroughly investigate the incidents of deaths due to poisonous liquor and take strict action against those involved in it.

Jan Suraj Party leader Prashant Kishore said that I have been saying this for the last three years that in reality the policy of prohibition is not implemented anywhere in Bihar. Liquor ban is applicable only in speeches of leaders and government files. He said that yesterday’s incident is very sad because a lot of people have lost their lives in it. He said that even one and a half years ago, many people had died in Chhapra due to poisonous liquor.
Prashant Kishore said that there is no district in Bihar where death has not occurred due to poisonous liquor. Many incidents were not even reported. Corrupt leaders and mafia system are busy taking advantage of this. Kishore said that the state of insensitivity is such that despite the death of so many people, government head Nitish Kumar will not go there.
Methyl alcohol in recovered sachet
Meanwhile, investigation has started after the deaths due to poisonous liquor. A major revelation has been made in the investigation of the recovered pouch. After testing the liquor packed in the recovered pouch, 80 percent methyl alcohol was found. It is poisonous and is used in commercial work.
The Special Task Force of Police has arrested 10 liquor smugglers in Siwan. Saran SP Kumar Ashish said that 1648 liters of liquor was seized in the last 24 hours. The police have also arrested 37 liquor smugglers.
Nitish’s tough attitude regarding poisonous liquor incident
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has also adopted a tough stance on deaths due to poisonous liquor. During the high level review meeting held on Thursday, he directed the officers to investigate the incident in depth. He said that strict action should be taken against the people doing business of poisonous liquor. He asked the officers to go to the incident site and get information about the entire situation. He directed the DGP of Bihar to continuously monitor the entire incident at his level.
He also appealed to the people of the state to stay away from alcohol. He said that it is better to give up this bad habit. People’s cooperation is also necessary to fully implement liquor ban. He said that the people of Bihar are completely following the liquor ban but some anti-social elements are busy spoiling the atmosphere of the state.
