Bihar Politics Chirag Paswan: Bihar politics has come to a boil again. Once again the same face, the same name and the same strategy is in the discussion – Chirag Paswan. Chirag, who became a minister in the central government in the Lok Sabha by joining the NDA, is now going to play such bets, which has directly created nervousness in Nitish Kumar and JDU camp. The question is whether Chirag Paswan is preparing the land of rebellion within the NDA by staying in NDA? Will Chirag Paswan enter the election field this time with the desire to become the Chief Minister? And if this happens, there will be such an explosion in Bihar politics whose echo will be heard till Delhi.
Actually the matter has started with the discussions of Chirag Paswan contesting assembly elections. JDU is not digesting the news as to why Chirag wants to contest the assembly elections while he is a minister in the central government. It is rapidly revolving between JDU leaders that if Chirag contests the assembly elections, what is the real reason for this? Is this more stake pressure in seat sharing or Bihar’s throne?
Bihar NDA has already made it clear that the 2025 assembly elections will be fought under the leadership of Nitish Kumar. Nitish Kumar has been declared the NDA face in Bihar. In such a situation, if Chirag Paswan contests the assembly elections, then it will send a message that he considers himself the Chief Minister of the future. This is the most disturbing thing for JDU.
Chirag’s power display in Nitish’s stronghold – restlessness in JDU
The matter is not just to contest elections, but Chirag Paswan is now preparing to show his strength in Nitish Kumar’s stronghold. On June 29, Chirag Paswan in Rajgir has announced a crowd of about two lakh people through Bahujan Bhima Sankalp Samagam. This is the same Rajgir who is the home district of Nitish Kumar. It is clear that Chirag now wants to enter Nitish’s stronghold and show his strength.
This power performance is not just a coincidence. Political experts from Bihar are considering it a kind of open challenge within the NDA. This gesture of Chirag is clear that he now wants his stake in the power of Bihar, not only the ministers of Delhi. This situation is uncomfortable for JDU as the party has already been hurt badly due to lamp in the 2020 assembly elections. The LJP then gave the slogan of “Nitish Mukt Bihar” while living in NDA and lost dozens of JDU seats.
What is Plan-B with Chirag?
Now the question arises that if the conflict between Chirag Paswan and NDA increases, will they change the frost? Can they turn to the grand alliance or are they looking for a third front? At present, there is no place for Chirag in the Grand Alliance. Tejashwi Yadav is already the face of the Grand Alliance and he is not going to give a stake to anyone with the dream of his Chief Minister. Congress and other constituents will also not be comfortable with Chirag. There will also be doubt about the lamp from above that they should not return to the NDA after the election. The third option for Chirag may be to combine with Prashant Kishore, but there is also the question of leadership there. Prashant Kishore is preparing to become the Chief Minister in Bihar himself through his organization Jan Suraj. In such a situation, even if Chirag goes with them, there is a struggle regarding seats and leadership.
Will it be a suicidal step to leave NDA?
According to political experts, Chirag has to remain in the NDA at this time. The reason is clear – this time the situation is not like 2020. Then JDU was weak, BJP was playing alone, but now JDU and BJP are strongly coordinated. The strength of the Modi government at the Center also gives strength to the JDU. If Chirag Paswan is different from NDA, then the biggest loss will be to them. They will neither find a place in the Grand Alliance, nor a reliable companion in the third front. The seats will also be limited and the dream of power will remain incomplete. On the contrary, the people of Bihar will get a message that Chirag is again playing the same old politics, which led to instability in Bihar.
Will the new chapter of ‘Nitish vs Chirag’ open in NDA?
However, it is equally true that Chirag Paswan has ever been famous for unpredictable tricks. Whenever everything looks calm in the politics of Bihar, only a bet goes on which the entire equation of power is shaken. Now the eyes are on the Rajgir rally on 29 June. If the crowd really gather there and the lamp makes a big announcement, then another political explosion is certain in Bihar.
