Bihar Voter List Scam: The politics of Bihar is once again hot. The ground has started slipping before the electoral ground is decorated, this time not from the feet, but from the voter list. Yes, before the assembly elections 2025, the voter revision campaign has caused earthquake in the entire state. The opposition is showering the allegations, blo ie booth level officers are raining questions, and now the Election Commission has also shocked everyone by taking a big decision.
Warning before vote: Commission’s new action plan
The Election Commission has made it clear that now the name of any voter will not be cut silently from the list. Before removing the name, a notice will be sent to the person concerned, time to reply will be given and there will also be an opportunity to submit the necessary documents. This decision of the Commission came at a time when complaints were being received from across the state that voters were dropped from the list without telling them. In the format that is going to be published on August 1, the Commission has clarified that no name and document will be removed without investigation. That is, if you have filled the calculation form, then your name will be in the list. This step shows the transparency and accountability of the Commission, but is hidden behind this announcement.
Blo’s ‘mistake’ or ‘conspiracy’?
In this campaign of voter list, the link on which the biggest question has arisen is Blo i.e. booth level officer. According to reports, Blo is not doing its work properly in many parts of the state. Many blo are not doing verification from house to house, but are running themselves by filling the form, looking at the document on the mobile, and only by putting a thumb. Not only this, instead of asking for documents in many places, verification has been done only on the basis of oral information. Action has been taken against 35 blo in Paliganj assembly constituency itself. More than a hundred blors have been suspended or warned across the state. The question arises: Is it just negligence, or a layer of a big conspiracy?
Conspiracy on boundaries! Entry of foreign intruders?
And now comes the most shocking news, which is enough to shake not only to the administration, but also to the people of the state. During the voter revision, it has been revealed that many foreign nationals, especially in areas bordering Bihar, especially Nepal and Bangladesh border, have joined the voter list, especially people from Nepal and Bangladesh. How did these names join? Who filled them for the form? Which blo got them verified without checking the documents? This is now the subject of investigation of the Election Commission. The Commission has given strict warnings that fake voters will not be spared at any cost and the voter list will be cleaned by 31 July.
Opposition’s attack, government’s silence
Opposition parties are constantly attacked by this entire matter. The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) has alleged that the ruling party wants to take electoral benefits by tampering in the voter list. The Congress described it as “conspiracy to kill democracy”. At the same time, the ruling JDU and BJP have kept silence on this issue so far, although their problems are also visible due to the action of the Commission.
Will the election 2025 map change?
This entire development has raised a big question on the results of Bihar Assembly Elections 2025. If thousands of fake voters are removed before voting, then the equations in many seats can be completely reversed. On the other hand, if the commission is not able to control this crisis in time, then questions can be raised only on the validity of the election. On the one hand, political parties are busy in the battle of vote bank, on the other hand the voters themselves are forced to think whether their name is still in the list or is lost due to the flaw or conspiracy of a system?
July 31, decisive date
Now the eyes are on 31 July 2025. This is the day when the final amendment of the voter list will be. On this day, it will be decided who will become the voter of Bihar and who will remain out of this most important festival of democracy. The Election Commission now has a huge responsibility, to restore credibility, and to prove that the first step of democracy, the “voter list”, is completely transparent and fair.
