A case was registered against a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader in Madhya Pradesh’s Bhopal on Tuesday for allegedly threatening a woman officer during the closure of an illegal water connection from a canal. On the complaint lodged by Ravineeta Jain, Sub-Divisional Officer of Water Resources Department, at Katara police station, an FIR was registered against former Municipal Corporation Councilor Kamta Patidar and some unknown people.
Police station in-charge Brijendra Nigam told news agency PTI that Patidar and his associates allegedly threatened the Water Resources Department employees when they were blocking the way of illegally drawing water from the canal. He said that Patidar also allegedly took away the keys of the JCB machine deployed at the spot.
The FIR was registered under sections 132 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 296 (obscene acts) and 351 (3) (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Justice Code, the official said. Is. The corporation said that no one has been arrested yet.
Bhopal district BJP president Sumit Pachauri, when contacted by the agency, said that Patidar was a former councilor of Bhopal Municipal Corporation. He said that this incident has been brought to the notice of senior leaders, who will take further action. He said that this kind of behavior is not acceptable in public life.
Actually, the women officers were cleaning the drains and closing illegal connections in the area. Meanwhile, the councilor reached the spot and misbehaved with the officer and got the work stopped. After this, the female SDO went to the police and lodged an FIR against the BJP leader.
