The bugle for assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir has been blown. Along with this, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is facing internal strife due to ticket distribution. The strife between the ticket claimants for the Vaishno Devi seat has come out in the open. Troubled by this, the BJP tried to reconcile former MLA Baldev Raj Sharma and Rohit Dubey late on Wednesday night. The BJP had to suffer losses in the Lok Sabha elections in Ayodhya due to internal strife.
Let us tell you that when BJP released its first list of 44 candidates, Rohit Dubey was the party’s first choice. However, that list was immediately withdrawn. A few hours later, a second list was released in which Baldev Raj Sharma was made the candidate in place of Rohit Dubey.
Dubey’s name being excluded from the list of candidates to contest the elections has brought the displeasure of his supporters in Katra to the fore. They staged a strong protest. They also threatened to vote against the BJP. BJP chief Ravinder Raina was taken to Katra to pacify them.
Late Wednesday evening, the party issued a statement saying that to show the unity and strength of the organization, BJP leader from Katra Rohit Dubey visited the party headquarters in Jammu and posed for a photo with BJP candidate from Mata Vaishno Devi assembly constituency Baldev Raj and other senior party leaders. BJP National General Secretary and Jammu and Kashmir BJP in-charge Tarun Chugh, Ravinder Raina, Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh, Lok Sabha MP and Election Management Committee Convenor Jugal Kishore Sharma, Sarab Singh Nag, Kuldeep Raj Dubey and many other senior party leaders were present on the occasion.
Tarun Chugh praised this move of the party leaders and said that BJP is a disciplined party of grassroots workers who work together like a family. He said that we are all strong together and BJP is ready to create history in the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir. He further said that BJP is working with a mission to make Jammu and Kashmir an example of peace and prosperity in the times to come.
There is a discussion in the political circles that BJP is shaken by the protests of supporters and workers. The reason for this is that the workers did not find the names of their leaders in the list of candidates given by the party.
Voting in Jammu and Kashmir is to be held in three phases on September 18, September 25 and October 1. The results will be declared on October 4.
