This time the BJP is preparing to contest the most seats in Bihar, while JDU may have to settle for a maximum of 90 seats. Due to the involvement of several parties in the coalition, the BJP leadership is also trying to satisfy other allies. For this, Nitish Kumar’s party will have to sacrifice this time. During the election campaign, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be the main face of the alliance while the command to form the election strategy will be mainly in the hands of the BJP.
BJP will contest more seats than JDU
BJP sources say that this time in Bihar, the party can field its candidates in about 110 seats. On the other hand, JDU may have to field its candidates in a maximum of 90 seats. Based on the involvement of many parties in the alliance and the old performance, the BJP is preparing to contest more seats this time.
LJP (Ram Vilas), Hum and RLSP will be given the opportunity to field their candidates in the remaining 43 seats after seat sharing between BJP and Janata Dal (U) in Bihar. During the last Lok Sabha election, Chirag Paswan’s party LJP (Ram Vilas) won all the five seats in its quota and in such a situation, Chirag Paswan’s party will get the most importance after BJP and JDU.
BJP’s vote share increased continuously since 2005
A senior BJP leader says that since the 2005 assembly elections, the party’s vote percentage has been increased continuously. Even during the last three Lok Sabha elections, BJP has been far ahead of JDU in terms of vote percentage. On the other hand, the 2010 assembly election was peak for JDU. In that election, the party won 115 seats with 22.58 percent votes.
Since that election, there has been a steady decline in JDU’s vote percentage, while the BJP has gained constant strength in Bihar. In such a situation, the party is preparing to contest more seats in the upcoming assembly elections.
BJP will be seen in the role of elder brother for the first time
The alliance of BJP and JDU is almost two and a half decades old, but this will be the first time when the party will field candidates in more seats than JDU. At present, the BJP also has more MLAs than JDU. Despite this, the party has handed over the command of the state to Nitish Kumar. Even till the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, JDU fielded candidates in more seats than BJP, but after the beginning of the Modi era, the difference of seats between the two parties continued to decrease.
During the last assembly election, JDU fielded its candidates in 115 seats while BJP had 110 seats but this time the picture will change completely. This time candidates will be fielded in more seats from BJP.
BJP’s eye on better strike rate
This time the BJP is monitoring a better strike rate like Maharashtra. The BJP is in a very strong position in Maharashtra and the party won 132 seats. Similarly, this time the BJP is trying to strengthen its position by contesting more seats in MLA Bihar. In Bihar, the BJP won 91 seats by performing the best in the 2010 assembly elections.
The party is making a strategy to win more seats in the state during the next assembly elections and make more seats. The party will look heavy on JDU this time in terms of election campaign and strategy. The party has already started preparations for this.
