Being the second largest party in Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, BJP will soon announce the name of the Leader of Opposition. To decide the name of the Leader of Opposition, the party welcomed all the newly elected MLAs at its party headquarters on Monday. BJP had won 29 out of 43 seats in Jammu region, whereas despite putting all its efforts in Kashmir, BJP has not been able to win even a single seat.
BJP State President Ravinder Raina said that today we had called all the newly elected MLAs to the party office. It was a kind of goodwill meeting in which all the newly elected MLAs of the party were invited and felicitated at the party headquarters. On the question of deciding the Leader of Opposition, he said that party president JP Nadda has appointed two central observers – Union Minister Pralhad Joshi ji and party’s national general secretary Tarun Chugh ji, who will visit Jammu in the next two to three days. They will reach out to the elected MLAs and after that the leader of the opposition will be decided.
However, Raina did not confirm the rumor of any name for this post. But from BJP, Padre Nagaseni MLA Sunil Kumar Sharma and Nagrota MLA Devender Singh Rana are the frontrunners for this post.
On the other hand, the alliance of National Conference and Congress has won with majority. He will take oath as Chief Minister on October 16. After a decade, Jammu and Kashmir is going to get a Chief Minister once again in the form of Omar Abdullah. The President’s rule imposed in 2019 has now been lifted. On behalf of the alliance, Omar met Governor Manoj Sinha and staked claim to form the government. He claimed to have the support of 54 MLAs.
