The last round of campaigning is going on in the Haryana Assembly elections. Voting is on 5th October and before that BJP has now put in its full strength. BJP has currently prepared ‘Plan 17’, through which it hopes to change the entire game. BJP has prepared this plan for 17 seats reserved for Scheduled Castes. She feels that by making an issue of the way Kumari Selja has been neglected in the Congress, she can woo the Dalits. If it can perform well on 17 seats, then BJP is hoping to change the game in Haryana with 90 seats.
Instead of holding big rallies, BJP is doing micro management in these areas. BJP is trying to tell in these assembly constituencies how atrocities against Dalits took place in Haryana during the Congress rule. During the BJP rule, how did Haryana and Central government take Dalit friendly steps? This is being told. Party sources say that this is expected to garner some additional votes. Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda is currently being considered the reason for the polarization of Jat voters. In such a situation, BJP hopes that in the name of Hooda’s influence on Jats and neglect of Kumari Selja, they will be able to woo the Dalits.
For this, BJP has especially activated RSS workers. Panna Pramukhs have been appointed by the BJP and Sangh workers have also been appointed along with them. These people have been given the responsibility to go door to door and connect people. Especially at the local level, Dalit leaders are being invited and programs are being organized. BJP has fielded Dalit leader Krishna Bedi from Narwana Assembly. In his election campaign, he is reminding himself of the Congress rule and how Dalits were subjected to atrocities during the Congress era.
Congress had won the reserved seats of Ambala and Sirsa in the Lok Sabha elections. This was considered a sign that the Jat and Dalit votes had mobilized in favor of the Congress. Now BJP is trying to break it and for this, emphasis is being laid on reserved seats for Scheduled Castes. The population of Dalit voters in Haryana is about 20 percent. This vote bank has the power to change the results on many seats. Let us tell you that Chandrashekhar Ravan’s Azad Samaj Party is also contesting elections in Haryana. Therefore, a part of the Dalit vote bank may get divided and if BJP also gets a chance to make a dent in it, then some change may occur.
