Former Barrackpore BJP MP Arjun Singh alleged that miscreants allegedly fired several bullets and attacked his house in Bhatpara with stones and bombs on Friday morning, sparking tension in Meghna Mor area of Jagatdal in West Bengal. Arjun Singh said that his leg was injured by a bomb fragment in the incident. He said that the attack took place at 8.30 in the morning. The BJP leader alleged, “Bhatpara TMC leader Namit Singh and his 20-25 associates attacked. About 15 bombs were thrown.” He directly accused Namit Singh and his team of opening fire.

Arjun Singh said in a post, “This morning, when everyone was busy in Navratri puja, several Jihadis and goons under the protection of Namit Singh, accused in NIA cases and son of a local councilor, attacked my office cum residence in the presence of local police. ‘Mazdoor Bhavan’ attacked.” Singh also shared a video along with the post. He claimed that the attackers openly waved weapons and during this the police remained mute spectators. “Around 15 bombs were thrown and these people fired more than a dozen bullets,” he said.

Eyewitnesses claimed that Meghna Mor in Jagatdal was filled with smoke due to the bomb being thrown. An official from Jagatdal police station said no injuries were confirmed and senior police officers along with additional forces were at the spot to investigate. Singh was earlier in Trinamool Congress but later he joined BJP. In the general elections, he lost to Partha Bhowmik of Trinamool Congress.

Meanwhile, Jagat Dal MLA Somnath Shyam claimed that Singh had fired four bullets. Shyam said, “After losing his political grip, he is blaming Trinamool for the problems which he himself has created…” BJP leader Subhendu Adhikari said in a post on ‘X’. ‘This morning, prominent goons and known anti-social elements associated with the ruling Trinamool Congress party attacked the house of senior BJP leader and former MP Arjun Singh at Bhatpara in North 24 Parganas district. As always, the police remained a mute spectator and did not do much to stop the criminals.” The BJP leader said that the video footage alone is enough to identify and arrest the culprits of this heinous crime. He said, “I hope that the DGP of West Bengal Police will at least try to use visuals to catch these miscreants.”
