Hundreds of acres of land near Kandla Port was freed from encroachment.
Kandla: Gujarat government is running a mega demolition drive these days to remove illegal encroachments in coastal areas. 580 illegal constructions were demolished on Thursday near Kandla port in Kutch creek area bordering India and Pakistan. According to reports, preparations are on to run bulldozers on the remaining 55 illegal constructions on Friday. The areas where bulldozers were run were the hideouts of criminals involved in drug smuggling and illegal businesses. Now these hideouts have been razed to the ground and 250 acres of land has been vacated in the port area.
6-7 thousand people were living in illegal occupation
Let us tell you that about 6 to 7 thousand people were occupying these illegal settlements near Kandla Port. Kutch Police and Kandla Port Authority are engaged in demolishing the illegal encroachment of the area. Not only the accused of oil theft from the pipeline located in the Kandla Port area used to live here, but from time to time criminals involved in drug smuggling and illegal business also used to take shelter here. This area of Kandla Port, which is sensitive for national security and located near the India-Pakistan border, had become a haven for illegal business, drug smuggling and vicious criminals and the vicious criminals living here were fearlessly committing heinous crimes in the surrounding areas.

Taking action in the coastal area, the police has also identified more such places where bulldozers will be used soon. The police and the port authority have so far demolished 580 illegal kutcha and pucca houses built by occupying the port’s land. Even today, preparations are on to run bulldozers on 55 more illegal constructions. The port administration has claimed that so far 200 to 250 acres of land has been freed from illegal occupation. About 6-7 thousand people were living illegally in the houses built here and many of them used to carry out all kinds of criminal activities.
