Congress party has suffered a big setback after the defeat in Haryana. Senior Congress leader Captain Ajay Singh Yadav has resigned from the party. Announcing the break with Congress on the social media platform, the Captain said that this decision was very difficult for him. He also recalled his old relationship with Congress. He has alleged that he was not being treated well.
Ajay Singh Yadav was a big OBC leader of Congress. He was also the chairman of OBC cell. Captain Ajay Yadav has been a five-time MLA and minister from Rewari. He is a close relative of former Bihar CM Lalu Prasad Yadav. Lalu’s son-in-law and Ajay Yadav’s son Chiranjeev Rao has faced defeat from Rewari.
The Captain was angry for a long time due to being sidelined in the party. He was also unhappy with the working style of in-charge Deepak Babaria and state president Udaybhan. After the defeat of Congress in Haryana, he had openly mentioned the shortcomings of the party. He had said that the way the fight for the post of Chief Minister started before the mandate was a big mistake. He also accused Congress leader Maman Khan of making inflammatory statements against a community.
What reason did Ajay Yadav give for his resignation?
For the last few days, there was speculation that Ajay Yadav may break his ties with Congress. Announcing his resignation on Twitter, he wrote, ‘Resigning from the chairmanship of the OBC department of the Congress and the primary membership of the Congress, I have sent my resignation letter to party president Mallikarjun Kharge.’ He further said that it was difficult for him to break the relationship that had been going on since 1952.
Yadav wrote in another post, ‘This decision to resign was really difficult, considering that my family had a 70-year long association with it (Congress). My father Rao Abhay Singh became MLA in 1952 and I also continued the family tradition. But after Sonia Gandhi left the post of Congress President, I have become disillusioned with the party high command because of their poor treatment towards me.
