The tourism business in Shimla, which was at a standstill for the last three months, has gained momentum. The valleys of Shimla have started buzzing with tourists. A large number of tourists have visited Shimla this weekend. The situation is that the occupancy of hotels has increased from 25 to 60 percent. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has predicted rain or snowfall in the high mountain areas on October 19. The minimum temperature in the high mountain areas of Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur has reached near the freezing point. Due to this, natural drinking water sources have started freezing in these areas.
For the first time after the departure of monsoon, there has been an increase in the number of tourists in Shimla. Tourists are reaching here in groups from outside states. The number of tourists here is expected to increase further in the coming days. Occupancy in hotels has also increased in Shimla and its surrounding areas. Tourists are reaching the tourist places of Naldehra, Kufri, Fagu and Narkanda along with Shimla. According to Shimla Police, during the last two days, about 26 thousand tourist vehicles entered through Shoghi Barrier. About 10 thousand vehicles from outside states were included in this.
Earlier, during the monsoon, the tourist business in Shimla was at a standstill in the months of July, August and September. Tourists often avoid going to the mountains due to landslides. Now amidst the pleasant weather, tourists are turning to the valleys of Himachal. The situation is such that an increase is being seen in hotel bookings. These days the day temperature in Shimla is being recorded around 23 degrees and the night temperature is around 12 degrees Celsius.
Prince Kukreja, Vice President of Shimla Hotelier Association, said that this weekend the booking in hotels in Shimla has increased from 25 percent to 55 to 60 percent. Tourists are also making advance booking in hotels. Among these, the maximum advance booking is coming for Karva Chauth. Special arrangements have been made for couples coming to hotels for Karva Chauth.
This time Karva Chauth is falling on the weekend of 20th October i.e. Sunday. Tourism businessmen have released attractive packages for the tourists coming to celebrate Karva Chauth. Hoteliers are offering free site views and 20 to 30 percent discount to tourists on advance booking of rooms. Travel agents are offering one night free stay at another tourist destination on booking a package of one tourist destination.
IMD says that the weather will remain clear in entire Himachal Pradesh including Shimla for the next 5 days. There are chances of rain or snowfall in high mountain areas on October 19. Meanwhile, due to dry weather the maximum temperature will remain normal. However, the night temperature will drop. Whereas in the high mountain areas Lahaul-Spiti and Kinnaur, the minimum temperature has reached near the freezing point. Water sources have started freezing in these areas. Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti recorded a minimum temperature of 1.8 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This was the coldest place in the state.
