Char dham yatra: The journey of the holy Himalayan Dham of Uttarakhand, called Chardham Yatra, has started from today. This pilgrimage, which is considered very holy in Sanatan Dharma, started with Yamunotri Dham this time like every year. On the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, thousands of devotees have reached Uttarakhand from India and abroad to see these four dhams.
The Chardham Yatra includes four major pilgrimage centers Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath. According to religious beliefs, the relationship of these four places is associated with different deities and mythology. Yamunotri is considered to be the origin of the Yamuna River, while Gangotri is associated with the origin of the Ganges river. Kedarnath is considered to be the abode of Lord Shiva, while Badrinath is worshiped as the eighth Baikuntha of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the tradition of Chardham Yatra was started by Adiguru Shankaracharya about 1200 years ago. According to religious beliefs, this journey not only provides spiritual purification, but by doing it all sins of life are cut and salvation is attained.
Open doors
Today i.e. at 10:30 am on Wednesday, the doors of Gangotri Dham were duly opened with worship, while the doors of Yamunotri Dham opened at 11:55 pm to see the devotees. With this, the Chardham Yatra of 2025 was formally launched.
The doors of Kedarnath Dham will be opened on May 2 and the doors of Badrinath Dham will be opened for devotees on 4 May. Akshaya Tritiya is considered a very auspicious time, hence the journey is started from this day.
