Chhattisgarh : In Chhattisgarh, under ‘Operation Maad’, the police, BSF and STF jointly launched an anti-Naxal operation in the Bastar division. During this operation, the security forces have achieved great success. The security forces have killed three reward-carrying Naxalites in an encounter in Narayanpur district, a reward of Rs 49 lakh was announced against them. The security forces have recovered a large quantity of explosives and weapons from them.
According to media reports, one of the Naxalites killed by security forces in the encounter has been identified as Rupesh alias Golu alias Samba Gosai Mandavi. A reward of Rs 25 lakh was declared on his head. He was in charge of Company-10 of the Naxalite organization PLGA. He was also the mastermind of the Madanwada incident (2009). The second one has been identified as Jagdish alias Ramesh alias Sukhlal Tikam, a reward of Rs 16 lakh was placed on him. Another third one has been identified as Sarita alias Basanti, a member of the Naxalite organization PPCM Company-10. A reward of Rs 8 lakh was declared against her. At the same time, the security forces have claimed that there were other Naxalites during the encounter, who managed to escape, although some of them have also been injured.
The encounter lasted for six hours
Bastar IG Sundarraj P said that this operation was conducted in the Abujhmad area of Narayanpur. A joint team of STF, BSF and police personnel were involved in this operation. During the search operation being conducted in the forest, the security forces encountered Naxalites. The encounter between the security forces and Naxalites continued for about six hours. During this, three big Naxalites were killed, many types of weapons including AK- 47, INSAS, SLR were found from them and a large amount of explosives were also recovered. Some Naxalites also managed to escape, many of them were injured. He said that no soldier was injured during the operation. Earlier on Saturday also, an operation was conducted in this area.
