Chhattisgarh news: The Chhattisgarh government has announced that shops, parlor, cafes and restaurants will now be able to work round the clock across the state. According to the government, the objective of this initiative is to promote trade growth, create employment opportunities and improve urban infrastructure. The government has also allowed women to work in the night shift.
However, according to the current rules, liquor shops will still have to be closed by 10 pm.
What is in declaration
Announcing this decision, Cabinet Minister Lakhan Lal Dewangan said that shops in Chhattisgarh will now be able to work round the clock and women employees will be allowed to work at night also. Till now, businesses had to be closed once a week. Now traders are allowed to decide their work hours.
– The government has ensured that the rights of the employees are reserved. Workers will get a weekly holiday and no employee will be able to get more than eight hours a day. Apart from this, all shop owners will have to follow labor welfare policies to protect employee interests.
– New rules have also changed the shop registration process. Employees will automatically join the new system under the State Insurance and Provident Fund Schemes, but they will have to get the labor identity number within six months. However, applications submitted after this period will be charged as per government norms.
Benefits for small businesses
Earlier, the 24 -hour business operation rule applied only to urban municipal areas. According to the government, now the revised policy now benefits small businesses providing employment to at least 10 workers. In addition, punishment has been increased for violations.
According to government notification, shops and establishment registrations will now be under the labor department instead of municipal bodies. The registration fee has been revised from Rs 1,000 to Rs 10,000 based on the number of employees, which will replace the fee of Rs 100 to Rs 250 first. Although the purpose of this decision is to provide maximum workforce opportunities, concerns have been expressed about public transport and safety for women. Currently, city bus services of Raipur run till 7:30 pm, due to which many women employees are worried about traveling at night.
