Himachal weather: In Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh, there has been a huge havoc due to cloudburst once again. In the Silhbadhani region of Chauharghati, Koratang suffered damage due to late night cloudburst, although no life and property has been damaged. On Monday, there was heavy damage due to cloudburst in many places in Mandi. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department on Sunday issued a warning of heavy rains in Mandi, Kangra and Sirmaur districts of Himachal Pradesh. Red alert has also been issued for these areas.
Orange alert has been issued for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh, Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Chamba, Kullu, Shimla and Solan. At the same time, there is a possibility of flooding in parts of Kangra, Chamba, Mandi, Shimla and Sirmaur districts.
On July 7-8 in Himachal Pradesh, the Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for the entire state and Yellow alert on 9 July. On Saturday, many districts including Kangra received heavy rains. Meanwhile, two bodies have been found in Nadaun and Kangra. A dead body was found on the banks of the Beas River in Nadaun, which was identified as Indradev of Pangaliur in Mandi. Now the death toll in natural disaster in Mandi district has increased to 18.
Flights canceled
Due to heavy rains on Saturday, no flights from Delhi and Chandigarh could reach Gagal Airport and all four flights were canceled. These included Indigo and SpiceJet flights. 239 roads are closed in the state due to rain and landslides. With this, 258 transformers and 289 water schemes have also come to a standstill. The maximum number of 176 roads are closed in Mandi district. So far, 72 people have died in the monsoon and a loss of Rs 566.87 crore.
CM Sukhu’s statement
Chief Minister Sukhvindra Singh Sukhu said that the state government is ready to deal with any emergency. He said that all possible help is being given to the affected people in the mandi and ration is being sent from the mules there. In addition, the state government has decided to pay a monthly rent of Rs 5,000 every month to the disaster affected people.
Relief work and services
Relief work is going on, including Army, NDRF and police personnel. Telecom services have been restored in Thunag and electricity has also started in some areas. Ration is being distributed in Thunag and Janjhali. On Saturday, two pregnant women were sent to Karsog from Janjhali on foot and by car. The journey of about 8-10 km was set by sitting in the palanquin.
