Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday announced the ‘System Parivartan’ initiative. According to the press release, under this program the Chief Minister along with all the ministers will visit remote villages to meet the residents and resolve their grievances. This initiative to reach out to rural communities is the first of its kind in the state. The Chief Minister’s first visit will be to the remote Dodra-Kwar region on October 26.

All ministers have been directed to visit rural hamlets in their respective areas, so as not only to resolve the grievances but also to inform the local people about the development programs and schemes. The aim of this initiative is to help the government understand how to maximize the impact of its schemes. Apart from this, feedback will also be given on the performance of police officers and employees deployed in these areas.

Shankar Chauhan, head of the temple committee in Kwar, praised the efforts of the state government to give priority to rural areas. He said, ‘This initiative of the Chief Minister and ministers will usher in a new era, accelerate development and resolve our grievances. The ‘Government’ is coming to meet our needs and will stay with us. This will give them information about the problems of people living in remote areas.

Retired teacher Hardayal also appreciated the government’s action and said that through these visits, 90 percent of the complaints will be resolved on the spot. Since assuming the post of Chief Minister, Sukhu has given priority to public participation. He had organized a two-day public ‘darbar’ in Kaza, a village in Lahaul-Spiti district. Where he listened to the problems of the residents and announced several development projects based on their feedback.

To ease the problems in rural areas, the government has issued instructions to solve important problems like drinking water, road maintenance, footpath construction and power supply. This outreach initiative underlines the Chief Minister’s commitment towards inclusive governance and rural development.
