On the question of BJP’s sarcasm and invitation to join, the Congress leader said that I was silent, that is why they say a few things. They also know and everyone knows that Selja is a Congress member. Earlier, Kumari Selja said in a program with Aaj Tak that I have Congress blood in my veins.
Amid the Haryana assembly elections, Congress general secretary and Sirsa MP Kumari Selja has categorically stated that she has Congress blood in her veins and she will remain a Congressman, amid reports of her displeasure. This statement of the 61-year-old Dalit leader has come when the former Chief Minister of the state and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar has invited her to join the BJP. In this way, Kumari Selja has turned down the invitation of former CM Khattar. She said that she will start campaigning in the next two-three days. Regarding the meeting with the party leadership, she said that discussions are often held with the top leaders.
Former Union Minister Selja told PTI, “There are 100 kinds of talks in the party, but those are internal talks. We worked hard in the Lok Sabha elections to make the party win, and worked hard even after that, so that we can strengthen the Congress party on the ground, fight for the people of Haryana, fight for our workers.”
She said, “We have to take the same work forward and form a Congress government.” When asked when she would start the election campaign, Selja said, “I will start the election campaign in the next two-three days.” When asked about her meeting with the Congress leadership, she said, “There are frequent discussions with the leaders, they take our feedback.”
On the question of BJP’s sarcasm and inviting her to join them, the Congress leader said, “I was silent, that’s why they are saying a few things. They know and everyone knows that Selja is a Congressman.” Earlier, Kumari Selja said in a program with Aaj Tak, “I have Congress blood in my veins. Meanwhile, party general secretary Randeep Surjewala said on Monday that Selja will address an election meeting in Narwana on September 26. 61-year-old Selja, the general secretary of the All India Congress Committee, is a prominent Dalit face of the party. Voting is going to be held in Haryana on October 5. In such a situation, the ruling BJP is constantly targeting the Congress for the Dalit leader staying away from the election campaign.
Recently, Union Minister and senior BJP leader Manohar Lal Khattar had invited Selja to join his party. Former Haryana Chief Minister Khattar had also pointed to the alleged infighting in the Congress state unit ahead of the assembly elections. (With Bhasha inputs)
