In Rajasthan, the chair of Jaipur Heritage Municipal Corporation Mayor Munesh Gurjar is in danger. The Department of Autonomous Governance has issued a notice to the Mayor and asked for a reply within 3 days. In such a situation, the suspension of Munesh Gurjar is considered certain. On the other hand, caste organizations have warned the government to face consequences. On the other hand, the Gurjar community has warned the BJP to face the consequences in the by-elections for any kind of unilateral action. Akhand Bharat Gurjar Mahasabha’s National President Devnarayan Gurjar said that we people of Gurjar community are in pain. This is a backward community. With great difficulty, women of our society come into politics. Earlier also there was a conspiracy against Greater Municipal Corporation Mayor Saumya Gurjar. In the last two and a half years, there has been a conspiracy against Munesh Gurjar as well.
It is noteworthy that on August 4 last year, Mayor Munesh Gurjar’s husband Sushil Gurjar was caught by the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) team. Since then, the ACB investigation against Munesh Gurjar was pending. Recently, the BJP government issued prosecution approval on this. Now DLB has taken action and issued a notice to the mayor, in which it has sought a reply on the corruption charges against him. Three days have been given for this. In such a situation, it is believed that if no reply is given by the mayor in three days or the answer is not satisfactory, then major action can be taken against him.
Taking on record the sanction for prosecution against Munesh Gurjar, the hearing is to be held after two weeks. On Monday, Justice NS Dhadda gave these directions on the petition of Sudhanshu Singh Dhillon. Although, on Tuesday UDH Minister Jhabar Singh Kharra had said that Mayor Munesh Gurjar would be suspended till Wednesday, but for now a notice has been given under Section 39(1) of the Rajasthan Nagar Palika Act 2009.
It is noteworthy that after the action of ACB on 4 August 2023, on 5 August, the Department of Autonomous Governance suspended Munesh Gurjar from the post of Mayor and Councilor. However, on 23 August 2023, she got relief from the court and she again sat on the mayor’s chair. After this, on 1 September 2023, the state government withdrew the decision to suspend Munesh Gurjar. After that, he was suspended again on 22 September 2023. This order was challenged by Munesh Gurjar in the High Court on 26 September 2023. She again got relief from the court on the petition and she became the mayor again in December 2023.
