Uttarakhand news: On the instructions of Chief Minister Shri Pushkar Singh Dhami, a ‘drug -free Uttarakhand campaign’ has been started across the state. Under this campaign, government and non-government schools of the state are being actively connected, so that children can be informed about the ill effects of intoxication from the initial stage and the foundation of long-term changes in the society can be laid. Secretary, Medical Health and Medical Education, Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said that through the State Mental Health Authority, public awareness campaign is being carried out by keeping school students in the center across the state. The intention of the government is clear, we want to create a Uttarakhand, where the younger generation is free from drug, aware and strong. This awareness campaign launched by keeping school students at the center is a strong step in this direction.
Special Lecture Session for Students at Indian Academy School
In this sequence, a special lecture session was organized at the Indian Academy Public School in Nehrugram, Dehradun today. On this occasion, Dr. Pankaj Singh, Assistant Director of State Mental Health Authority, Uttarakhand, gave detailed information to the students on the ill effects of drug addiction, the risks of addiction and the practical methods of prevention. He said that adolescence is a sensitive phase and at this age it is quick to drug intoxication. In such a situation, it is very important to make students aware in time. Dr. Pankaj Singh said that the addiction not only has a serious impact on the family and social level.
Urge students to make ‘human chain’
Dr. Pankaj Singh called upon the students to convey this information to their friends, family members and other people of the community, so that it could spread positive messages in society like a “human chain”. He clarified that this campaign is not just a day program, but a continuous initiative, which aims to make the youth aware of the vision of a drug addiction by raising awareness of intoxication.
Role of school and participation of students
The school’s director Munendra Khanduri played an important role in the success of this program. Principal Neelam Sharma said that with the initiative of the Honorable Chief Minister, the ground changes are now visible. If this campaign starts from schools, its effect will reach every house. Only our students can give new direction to the society.

Shiv Thapliyal (student) said that the initiative of this Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is commendable. We should stay away from intoxication so that the future can be safe. Nayati Uniyal (student) said that very important information was received from this workshop. We should also join this campaign and make the people around us aware.
The younger generation should be free from intoxication, aware and strong
Secretary Health Dr. R. Rajesh Kumar said on this occasion, it will be our endeavor that this campaign reached every district, every school and take the form of a mass movement. He further said that long -term positive results can be ensured by the participation of mental health experts, teachers and parents in this campaign. Teachers should encourage dialogues that increase sensitivity and self -confidence in students.
