He underlined the importance of English language in the rapidly evolving digital landscape. Highlighting the importance of languages in shaping culture and identity, Professor Rai stressed the need to understand the deep connection between language, culture and civilization.
He said that just as culture and civilization are nourished by language, English as a language also plays an important role in preserving and propagating our rich cultural heritage. The foundation of our culture lies in our languages and English is one of the main languages that hold this cultural heritage.
He said that today’s youth often have individual morality but lack collective social moral compass. He stressed the importance of imparting these morals and values through English, which is the medium to guide society and preserve our cultural roots.
He explained the uniqueness of English, saying that the language is written exactly as it is spoken. English has absorbed words and influences from many other languages, making it a rich and adaptable medium. He praised English for its ability to guide people, provide clarity and knowledge.
Professor Rai stressed the need to guide society, culture and the nation by incorporating the knowledge found in Indian languages into our lives. He urged everyone, even those unfamiliar with English, to try to speak and preserve it along with all Indian languages.
He said that Indian languages are essential to keep the nation united. Conversing in Indian languages helps connect people and maintain unity. He appealed to treat your language with the same respect and care as your mother, as it nourishes and shapes your identity, just like a mother nurtures her child.
