Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar has suffered a severe blow in his own stronghold. NCP MLA from Phaltan in Satara Deepak Chavan and senior party leader Sanjivraje Nimbalkar have left Ajit Pawar-led NCP and joined uncle Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP).
There was talk for the last several days that MLAs Deepak Chavan and Sanjeevraje Nimbalkar will join Sharad Pawar’s faction. Sanjivraje’s brother Ram Raje Nimbalkar has also made it clear that he will stand firmly with Sanjivraje and will not show any interest in campaigning for Mahayuti candidates. Ramraje Nimbalkar is a member of the Legislative Council. He has one more term left.
According to ABP Majha report, Deepak Chavan left Ajit Pawar when the Deputy Chief Minister himself announced his candidature. Deepak Chavan has become MLA from Phaltan seat thrice. Now he will be in the assembly arena for the fourth time. If he wins again from Phaltan seat, then the record of serving as MLA for the maximum number of times will be registered in his name. The steps of Deepak Chavan and Nimbalkar can bring a new change in the politics of Satara district. Sharad Pawar is not leaving even a single opportunity to give a political defeat to Ajit Pawar.

A few days ago, former Maharashtra minister Harshvardhan Patil also joined the Nationalist Congress Party-Sharadchandra Pawar (NCP- SP). He has been a prominent politician of Pune district and is currently the President of the National Cooperative Sugar Mills Association. He left BJP last week. Harshvardhan Patil has been a staunch rival of Ajit Pawar. He was the Minister of State for Agriculture and Marketing in the Shiv Sena-BJP coalition government during 1995–99. He won the 1995 assembly elections as an independent candidate. He served as a minister during the Congress-NCP coalition government from 1999 to 2014. He joined the Congress in 2009 and was made the Minister of Cooperative and Legislative Affairs.
