The body of the student who was missing since September 11 was found hanging from a tree at a short distance from the institute’s library on September 21. Deepak’s family came to Delhi and lodged a complaint in Mukherjee Nagar police station on September 14 regarding their son’s disappearance.
In a statement issued on September 24 by Vivek Tiwari, Deputy CEO of Drishti Group, expressing grief over the death of Deepak Kumar Meena, detailed information has been given about the facts related to him. The coaching center has also shared the key facts related to the entire incident to ensure transparency in this case. The center has assured to help Delhi Police in every possible way.
The coaching center told these things
1. Deepak Kumar Meena joined Drishti IAS from July 10, 2024 to prepare for Mains Exam 2024.
2. Deepak was studying in the library till 10th September. He had made very impressive notes for preparation. He gave many tests in July and August and he got good marks in each test. Despite being the first attempt, his preparation was going very well, there was a high possibility that he would have been selected in the first attempt itself. He also had a lot of confidence in himself.
3. Deepak did not come to the library with his PG mates on the morning of September 11. When his friends asked, he said he would come later, but there was no contact with him after that.
4. Deepak’s roommate told our team on 13 September that Deepak has not returned to the PG since 11th and is not even picking up the phone. As soon as we got the information, our team coordinator called Deepak’s number several times, but the phone was not picked up. Immediately after this, our team informed Deepak’s family about this. They were also very upset about not being able to contact Deepak for two days.
5. The next day, on September 14, Deepak’s family came to Delhi and filed a missing person’s complaint with the police. By this time Deepak’s phone had been switched off.
6. The investigation of this case is in the hands of Delhi Police since September 14. On September 15, in the presence of Deepak’s family, our team provided the CCTV footage of the library to the police. Deepak’s friends and acquaintances were also questioned. The investigating officers also collected CCTV footage from many other places in the vicinity, but despite all efforts, no concrete clue was found.
7. The last hope was that Deepak would reach his exam centre to appear for the Mains exam which was to begin on 20th September. The police team and family members were present there, but Deepak did not reach there. After that, the police team searched the surrounding areas thoroughly on the basis of the last location of his phone and his body was found in the bushes inside the Delhi University hostel adjacent to Mukherjee Nagar.
8. Deepak Kumar Meena never complained of any kind of stress or pressure to his mentors. According to his mentors and friends, he was a polite and introverted student. There was little chance of him having any dispute or quarrel with anyone.
9. Many members of our team including our Managing Director Vikas Sir are constantly in touch with Delhi Police. We are waiting for the authentic report of the postmortem. We will help Delhi Police as much as required in this matter.
Police is considering it as suicide
