Earth trembled due to earthquake in Gujarat
Gujarat is a high earthquake risk area. According to Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority (GSDMA) data, Gujarat has experienced nine major earthquakes in the last 200 years. According to the GSDMA, the Kutch earthquake on January 26, 2001 was the third largest and second most destructive earthquake to hit India in the last two centuries. Many towns and villages in the district were almost completely destroyed in the earthquake, which killed about 13,800 people and injured 1.67 lakh others.
Earthquake occurred three times in a month
Let us tell you that so far this month, an earthquake of more than three magnitudes has been felt twice in Kutch district of Gujarat. According to ISR, the intensity of the earthquake that hit the district on December 7 was recorded at 3.2. Last month, on November 18, an earthquake of magnitude four was recorded in Kutch. According to ISR data, earlier on November 15, an earthquake of 4.2 magnitude had hit Patan in North Gujarat.
Earthquake struck for the third time today. Earthquake tremors of 3.7 magnitude were felt in Kutch district of Gujarat on Monday morning. Institute of Seismic Research (ISR) gave this information. The district administration said that at present there is no information about any casualty or damage to property or anything else due to the earthquake. Gandhinagar-based Institute of Seismic Research (ISR) said the earthquake occurred at 10.44 am on Monday and its epicenter was 76 km north-northeast of Lakhpat.
