Earthquake tremors have occurred in Himachal Pradesh for the second time within three days. The earth shook due to earthquake in Mandi district on Tuesday afternoon. The intensity of the earthquake was 3.3 on the Richter scale. The tremors of the earthquake were felt for a few seconds at 12:01 pm. Its impact was also felt in the areas adjacent to Mandi district. According to Meteorological Center Shimla, the epicenter of the earthquake was at 31.74 degrees north latitude and 76.86 degrees east longitude in Mandi and its depth was recorded at five kilometers below the ground surface.
Earthquake hit Shimla on 12 October
There is no news of any loss of life or property due to the earthquake. An official of the State Disaster Management Authority said that due to the low intensity of the earthquake, there was no report of any damage in Mandi. On October 12, an earthquake of magnitude 3 occurred in Shimla. Then the epicenter of the earthquake was in Chidgaon of Rohru subdivision of Shimla district. However, there was no loss of any kind during this period.
Himachal comes in Zone 4 and 5
Frequent occurrence of earthquakes in Himachal Pradesh is putting people in panic. Earthquake tremors have been occurring here for the last several years. Himachal Pradesh is included in the most sensitive zone 4 and 5 from earthquake point of view. Mild earthquake tremors have been felt here for many years. In 1905, more than 10 thousand people were killed in the devastating earthquake that hit Kangra and Chamba districts.
Clear weather for a week
The weather has remained dry in the state for the last fortnight. The Meteorological Department has ruled out the possibility of rain and snowfall for the next one week. The weather will remain dry till October 21. The maximum temperature in the state remains normal due to sunshine during the day. However, the nights have become cold due to the drop in minimum temperature. The minimum temperature in tribal areas has gone below 3 degrees. Kukumseri in Lahaul-Spiti district was the coldest place on Tuesday, where the night temperature was recorded at 2.8 degrees Celsius. Apart from this, 3 degrees Celsius was recorded in Keylong, 5.9 degrees in Kalpa, 6.4 degrees in Samdho, 8.2 degrees in Manali and 12 degrees Celsius in Shimla.
