Bihar Missing Voter List Updated: Before the assembly elections in Bihar, the political storm of ‘vote theft’ is not taking its name. Following the sharp questions of the Supreme Court, the Election Commission has finally accepted the defeat and has made the names of 65 lakh people removed from the voter list of Bihar. This decision is a befitting reply to the allegations in which the opposition parties were accusing the Election Commission of working closely with the BJP.
Data of ‘missing’ voters uploaded in 56 hours!
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Dnyanesh Kumar said on Sunday that after the Supreme Court order, the Election Commission has uploaded the names of 65 lakh people removed from the voter list within 56 hours on the website of the District Magistrates. This step has been taken on the direction of the Supreme Court to increase transparency. The Supreme Court gave this order during the hearing of the petitions against the special intensive revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar.
Only blo and ERO take responsibility!
Gyanesh Kumar insisted that the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and the booth-level officer (BLO) take full responsibility of the correctness of the voter list under the Commission’s guidelines. He said that the draft of the voter list is shared with political parties in both digital and physical forms. Apart from this, it is also uploaded on the Election Commission website for public access.
Get 1 month time for objection
The Chief Election Commissioner said that after the release of the draft voter list, voters and political parties have a month to register objections and claims before the final list is released. This process is to ensure that no legitimate voter’s name is accidentally removed. This move of the Election Commission is being respected by the Supreme Court order, which has stressed the allegations of the opposition in a way and forced the Commission to clarify. Now it remains to be seen what more earthquake comes in the politics of Bihar after this list is made public.
