ED raid on the residence of former Congress MLA Dharam Singh Chhaukkar, action after assembly elections

ED has taken major action in Haryana just after the assembly elections. ED raided the residence of former Congress MLA from Samalkha Dharam Singh Chhaukkar this evening. The ED team reached his residence in four vehicles. The team is still investigating. It is being told that Chhaukkar was not at his residence during the raid. Dharam Singh Chhaukkar is close to former Chief Minister Bhupendra Singh Hooda. About 14 months ago, ED had registered a case of money laundering against Dharam Singh Chhaukkar. Gurugram Police had accused Sai Aina Firms (now Mahira Infratech Private Limited) of fraud. It was said that the firm took Rs 360 crore in exchange for houses from 1 thousand 497 people.

People were assured of building houses in Gurugram Sector-68, which was not completed. Later this case was transferred to ED. The ED had registered a case of fraud against former MLA Chhaukkar and his sons in July last year. Dharam Singh Chhaukkar and his sons Sikandar and Vishal are the owners and promoters of Mahira Real Estate Group.

Fought elections on Congress ticket, High Court expressed surprise at openly campaigning

Despite facing ED investigation, Congress had made Dharam Singh Chhaukkar the Congress candidate from Samalkha assembly seat in Panipat district. Virendra Singh, who claims to be a local social activist, had filed a petition in the High Court and accused the Enforcement Directorate and the police of not arresting MLA Chhaukkar despite a non-bailable warrant being issued against him. Chhaukkar was roaming openly in the area. Commenting on the same, the Punjab and Haryana High Court had ordered Chhaukkar to surrender by October 2 and if he did not do so, the police had ordered his arrest.

The High Court had said that it is surprising how the person whom the police and ED are searching for is openly campaigning. Then Chhaukkar did not surrender and said that the opponents were spreading rumors against him. This is their conspiracy. If there had been a non-bailable warrant against him, he would have surrendered. He respects the court. His lawyer will present his case in this regard in the High Court.

This time Chhokkar suffered a crushing defeat.

Bharatiya Janata Party had fielded Manmohan Bhadana against Congress’ Dharam Singh Chhaukkar on Samalkha seat. For the first time, BJP has succeeded in making lotus bloom in Samalkha assembly seat. On this seat, BJP candidate Manmohan Bhadana defeated Congress candidate Dharam Singh Chhaukkar by 19315 votes. Manmohan Bhadana got 81293 votes while Chhaykar got 61978 votes. Till now in history, BJP candidate had not won this seat even once. The party has always been betting on local faces. But this time BJP gave ticket to an outsider from this seat and won.
