At least four army soldiers and one police officer have been injured in the ongoing encounter in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials gave this information on Saturday. The encounter started early morning in Adigam Devsar, Kulgam when a joint team of security forces launched a cordon and search operation (CASO) following information about the presence of terrorists in the area.
“The CASO encounter turned into an encounter when the hiding terrorists started firing indiscriminately and four Army personnel and an Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) were injured in the firing,” a security official said. ‘The injured were immediately taken to a medical facility, and the condition of the injured is reported to be stable.’ Soon after the encounter began, additional forces were deployed to ensure tight cordon.
Sources said that two terrorists are believed to be hiding in the area. Earlier in a post on ‘X’, Jammu and Kashmir Police had said, ‘Encounter has started in Adigam Devsar area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further information will be shared later. He said that there is no information about any casualty from either side in this encounter.
