On the birth anniversary of India’s first Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that some forces inside and outside India are trying to spread anarchy to destabilize the country and create its negative image in the world. The Prime Minister said there was a need to “identify and expose urban Naxalites”. After paying tribute to Sardar Patel, PM Modi addressed a gathering near the ‘Statue of Unity’ in Ekta Nagar in Narmada district.
Since 2014, after Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister, Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary is celebrated as ‘National Unity Day’ on 31 October. The Prime Minister said, “Due to India’s growing power and capabilities, some forces inside and outside are trying to destabilize the country and spread anarchy. They want to harm India’s economic interests. They want to give a wrong message to foreign investors by presenting a negative image of the country in the world.”
target without naming
Without naming anyone, Modi said “these people” are also targeting India’s armed forces through “propaganda” and trying to incite separatist sentiments in the army. He said, “These people are trying to divide the country on the basis of caste. Their only goal is to weaken the unity of the Indian society as well as the people.” He said that he does not want to see India as a developed country, because he likes the politics of weak and poor India. He said such “dirty politics” has been going on for nearly five decades. Modi alleged that although these forces always talk about democracy and constitution, in reality they are working to divide the country.
Identify urban Naxalites
The Congress-led opposition has repeatedly targeted Prime Minister Modi, claiming that India’s democracy and Constitution are being “attacked” by the ruling BJP. He urged the people of the country to identify this nexus of “urban Naxalites” and said that these people are trying to break the country. The Prime Minister said that as Naxalism is ending in the forests, a new model of urban Naxalites is raising its head. He said, “We have to identify those people who are dreaming of breaking the country. We have to fight these forces. Today urban Naxalites also target those people who say that if you stay united then you will be safe. We have to identify and expose the urban Naxalites.”
Naxalism on the verge of ending
He said that due to the efforts of the government in the last 10 years, Naxalism is on its last breath in India. Recalling the contribution of Sardar Patel, Modi said that although some people were skeptical about the integration of India after independence, Sardar Patel made it possible. He said the country will celebrate Patel’s 150th birth anniversary for the next two years. According to Modi, every scheme launched by his government reflects the “spirit of unity”. He said that benefits were given to every citizen without any discrimination, be it Har Ghar Jal, Ayushman Bharat or PM Awas Yojana. Modi said that after the success of ‘One Nation, One Tax’ initiative in the form of GST (Goods and Services Tax), ‘One Nation, One Ration Card’ and ‘One Nation, One Health Insurance’ in the form of Ayushman Bharat scheme , His government is now working on ‘One Nation, One Election’. He said that this approach will strengthen democracy.
For the first time in 75 years, Kashmir CM took oath on the Constitution.
The Prime Minister said, “We are also moving towards the implementation of ‘One Nation, One Secular Civil Code’. Sardar Patel’s message of unity in society is at the core of this decision. This will end discrimination and strengthen unity among the people.” Referring to the abrogation of Article 370, Prime Minister Modi said that it was becoming a hindrance in implementing the Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir. Assembly elections have been held recently in Jammu and Kashmir. He said, “For the first time in 75 years, the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir has taken oath on the Constitution. I consider this a very important achievement for the unity of India. I salute the people of Jammu and Kashmir who respected the Constitution.” Regarding the ongoing war in different parts of the world, Modi said that India has emerged as ‘Vishwa Bandhu’ (friend of the world). The Prime Minister said, “When relations between different countries are becoming tense, India has emerged as a world friend. Today, when differences between countries are increasing, many countries are coming closer to India. A new history is being written.
