Farmers on Monday severely disrupted traffic on Phagwara-Jalandhar and Jalandhar-Phagwara with trolleys laden with paddy in protest against non-lifting of paddy from the grain markets of Punjab. Farmers have been protesting for several days regarding the purchase of paddy in Punjab. Earlier on Friday, Bharatiya Kisan Union Ekta Agrahan had surrounded the houses of cabinet ministers, MLAs and BJP leaders. In many districts including Bathinda and Amritsar, farmers had made toll points free. Farmers also staged a protest at the residence of Cabinet Minister Aman Arora in Sangrur.
