Fear of uproar in protest against the construction of mosque in Shimla; area turned into a cantonment, security at every corner

The issue of Shimla’s famous Sanjauli mosque dispute does not seem to be calming down. Hindu organizations and local people have called for people to reach the suburb Sanjauli on September 11. Hindu organizations and angry people have also warned of demonstrations on this issue. Messages and videos are being uploaded on social media regarding this. In view of this, Shimla police has increased the security. The situation is such that the Sanjauli area has been transformed into a cantonment. The police has taken charge here and deployed soldiers at every nook and corner.

Apart from Shimla Police, soldiers of two battalions, fifth and sixth, have been called to Shimla. Police has already become alert by deploying plainclothes and uniformed police personnel. Police can also impose Section 144 to end the ongoing deadlock over Sanjauli Mosque. Shimla Police has named some people against whom cases are already going on or who are out on bail.

The district administration and police department are alert regarding the dispute arising due to illegal construction in the mosque. DC Shimla Anupam Kashyap and SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi are constantly monitoring the security arrangements here and keeping an eye on the situation. SP Shimla Sanjeev Gandhi said that any kind of disturbance will not be tolerated.

In fact, messages and videos about the protest have gone viral on social media. A video has also been released on social media by the Hindu Sangharsh Samiti formed by the local people, in which people have been called upon to come to Sanjauli on September 11 at 11 am. The police is now keeping an eye on the suspects. The police has taken charge of all the roads leading to the mosque. People are being allowed entry only after questioning and showing identity cards.

Police personnel have been deployed on both sides of the walkway built in Sanjauli market, while the roads leading to the walkway have been blocked by barricading. Police personnel have also been deployed at various places outside Sanjauli Chowk, Dhali tunnel, shops. Three buses of police personnel have been parked near Sanjauli police post. There is adequate number of police force present in it to deal with any situation.

Let us tell you that the case of illegal construction of Sanjauli Mosque was heard in the Shimla Municipal Corporation Court last Saturday. During this, the court had sought answers from the Waqf Board and the mosque management regarding the five floors built illegally in the mosque. The court has asked the concerned junior engineer to submit a status report regarding the illegal construction. The Waqf Board has also been asked to submit a status report of the construction. The next hearing of the case is scheduled for October 5.
