First the farmers' protest, now the agriculture law; is Kangana Ranaut creating problems for the BJP?

The statements of Kangana Ranaut, MP from Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, are becoming a headache for the BJP. In a short time, Kangana has given two such statements, from which the BJP immediately distanced itself. It also made it clear that she is not authorized to make statements on behalf of the BJP. What Kangana has said about the first farmer movement and now the three agricultural laws, has led to voices rising against her even within the party. Regarding agricultural laws, Kangana Ranaut first said that I know there will be controversy, but I think the three repealed agricultural laws should be brought back. Farmers should also demand this. However, as the controversy grew, Kangana took back her words expressing her displeasure. Kangana’s statement was expected to cause losses to the BJP in the Haryana assembly elections.

Kangana’s statement could have caused damage in Haryana

Voting for all 90 seats is on October 5 for the Haryana Assembly elections, the results of which will be declared on October 8. The party is already facing anti-incumbency due to the BJP government in the state for the last decade. Many times resentment has also been seen among the people of the state against the BJP government regarding Agniveer, farmer related issues, unemployment etc. At the same time, BJP is also facing rebellion of many leaders due to ticket cuts. In such a situation, election experts believe that Kangana’s statement demanding the repeal of all three agricultural laws could have caused further damage to the BJP in Haryana. Seeing this, the BJP denied Kangana’s statement and said that this is her personal statement. A few years ago, during the farmers’ movement on the borders of Delhi, apart from Western Uttar Pradesh, a large number of farmers from Haryana also sat for a long time for the movement. After this, PM Modi had announced the withdrawal of agricultural laws.

Congress hit a four on the occasion

As soon as Kangana Ranaut made a statement on agricultural laws, Congress took advantage of the situation and started preparing to cash in on it in the Haryana elections. Congress MP Deepender Hooda, referring to Kangana’s statement in various rallies, said that he would not allow these agricultural laws to come back again. Deepender Hooda said in the rally, “750 farmers have sacrificed their lives to save MSP and Mandi system from the dictatorial government of BJP. Our challenge to all the BJP MPs who have the intention of bringing back the black agricultural law is that after the formation of Congress government in Haryana, there is no such power in the country that can implement these laws again.” Amidst the issue being raised by the Congress, BJP also distanced itself from Kangana’s statement. BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia said, “A statement of BJP MP Kangana Ranaut is going viral on social media. This statement is related to the 3 agricultural laws which were earlier repealed by the BJP government. Thus, I would like to clarify that this statement reflects the personal views of Kangana Ranaut and in no way reflects the views of the BJP in the statement related to the 3 farm laws. Let me also clarify that Kangana Ranaut has not been authorised by the BJP to speak on the subject of the 3 farm laws.”

Kangana had also created problems on the farmers’ movement

Last month, during the promotion of the film Emergency, Kangana Ranaut had said some things in an interview to a media house, which created controversy. Kangana had said that if our top leadership was not strong, what happened in Bangladesh would not have taken long to happen in India too. During the farmers’ movement, miscreants were spreading violence and there was long planning. Rapes and murders also took place there. There was a lot of protest in Punjab regarding this statement of Kangana. BJP had issued a press release saying that the statement given by Kangana Ranaut regarding the farmers’ movement is not the opinion of the party. BJP disagrees with Kangana Ranaut’s statement. Kangana is neither allowed nor authorized to speak on policy issues on behalf of the party. BJP further said, “Kangana Ranaut is directed by the party not to make such statements in future. BJP is determined to follow the principles of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vishwas and Sabka Prayas and social harmony.
