After the scorching heat, Himachal Pradesh has now witnessed heavy rains. Heavy rains have been occurring in many districts since last night amid yellow alert. The maximum rainfall has occurred in Sirmaur district. Apart from this, Chamba, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Una and Mandi districts have also received heavy rains. It has been raining in various parts of Sirmaur district for the last two days. Due to continuous rainfall, the water level of the rivers of the district is rising rapidly and flood-like conditions have arisen. In view of this, water was drained by opening two gates of Jaton Dam built on Giri River in Shri Renukaji early this morning. The district administration has issued an alert and instructed the people living on the river bank to remain alert.
Holiday in educational institutions today
Due to heavy rain and thunderstorm on Thursday, all educational institutions in Paonta Sahib of Sirmaur district have been closed today. Paonta Sahib SDM Gunjit Cheema has issued orders in this regard. He said that due to heavy rain and release of water from the dam, all educational institutions in Paonta Sahib have been closed for a day today, so that the safety of children can be ensured. He said that after the water level of Giri river increased, water has been released from Giri Jaton dam.
Mild cold in hill stations
Due to change in weather pattern, the effect of heat has reduced due to fall in maximum and minimum temperature. While the weather has become pleasant in plain areas, mild cold is being felt in hill stations in the morning and evening. Recently, the fierce form of heat was seen in many parts of the state. In Shimla, the heat broke the record of the last three decades, while in the plain areas including Kangra, there was severe heat in September after many years.
Rain alert today too, monsoon will weaken from tomorrow
The Meteorological Center has predicted that due to the monsoon activity, there will be heavy rainfall in many parts of the state on September 26. The Meteorological Center has issued a yellow alert regarding this. A warning has been issued for thunder and lightning in the plains and mid-mountain areas.
From which day will the weather be clear
According to the Meteorological Department, its effect will reduce from September 27. There are chances of light rain at some places from 27 to 29 September. The weather will become clear from September 30. The monsoon is likely to leave the state in the first week of October.
333 people lost their lives during the monsoon season
Monsoon arrived in Himachal Pradesh on 27th June. This time, the monsoon rain was 19% less than normal, but devastation was witnessed everywhere due to cloudburst, floods and landslides. 202 houses, 67 shops and 530 cattle sheds were completely destroyed during the monsoon season. 568 houses were partially damaged. 333 people lost their lives in rain-related accidents. Out of these, 150 people died in road accidents. There were 98 incidents of cloudburst, floods and landslides, in which 36 people died and 33 are still missing. According to the report of the State Emergency Operations Center, monsoon has caused a loss of Rs 1332 crore in the state. The Public Works Department suffered the maximum loss of Rs 633 crore. The loss to the Water Power Department has been estimated to be Rs 513 crore.
