Due to the rise in the water level of the Ganga river in Bihar, there is a threat of flood in many districts including Patna. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar took stock of the flood-affected areas by conducting an aerial survey on Friday. Senior officials were also present with the CM. The water level of the Ganga river rose above the danger mark at many places in Patna on Friday.
Patna district administration issued a statement on Friday saying that the water level of the Ganga river at Gandhi Ghat in the morning was above the danger mark (48.60 meters). Similarly, the Ganga river is flowing above the red mark at Hathidah and Digha Ghat.
Apart from this, due to continuous heavy rains in Jharkhand for the last few days, Falgu and Sakri rivers are also in spate. Due to this, small dams built on these rivers have been damaged. Due to this, flood water has accumulated in many low-lying areas of Patna’s rural areas and Nalanda district. Flood conditions prevail at many places in Patna district’s Fatuha and Pandarak blocks. The situation is also worrying in Nalanda district’s Hilsa block.

“Due to the release of 53,945 cusecs of water from the Sakri and Falgu rivers from the Uderasthan dam, some parts of the Baruane Zamindari Dam and Sirpatpur Dam located on the left bank of the Dhanayan river in Pandarak block were damaged last night. This has led to flood situation in the low lying areas of Pandarak and Fatuha blocks of Patna district,” a state government official said.
Similarly, two small dams in Hilsa block of Nalanda district, which were in a very dilapidated condition, were also damaged. This has created flood-like conditions in many areas of Jamuar and Dhuri Bigha villages.
