The rescue campaign continues by the administration.
The most serious incident in this disaster surfaced in Chhane in Mangan district, where three soldiers were killed and six others are still missing due to landslide at a military camp. Water level of Teesta river on danger
The Border Road Organization (BRO) has started the work of restoring roads. Meanwhile, an official reported that hundreds of people, including 7 men, 561 women and 380 children, were safely brought to Fandag through a relief convoy. Northeast India has been receiving heavy rains for the last four days. Some areas of Northern Sikkim have recorded more than 130 mm of rainfall, affecting famous tourist destinations such as Lachung, Gurudongmar and Lachen. The water level of Teesta river has also reached above the danger mark.
Due to heavy rains and landslides, there have been cracks in the ground in many areas. Two bridges in the Lachen region have been completely swept away, blocking the routes leading to Lachen and Lachung. The Indian Army, NDRF and local police are engaged in relief and rescue operations, although there are difficulties in the campaign due to bad weather and inaccessible land.
