Five accused arrested.
Cybercrime Cell of Gujarat CID (Crime) arrested 5 people from Meera Road in Thane, Maharashtra on Wednesday, these people allegedly have an illegal call center to cheat people in the name of advising the stock market. Was running The cybercrime cell started this investigation when two victims- Ashok Patel of Surendranagar and Kalyani Patil of Rajpipla filed a complaint. The arrested accused include Mohammad Zaheed Sheikh, Shakeel Chauhan, Faizan Chauhan, Mohammad Junaid Sheikh and Rameez Shipai. All the accused are residents of Mehsana district of Gujarat.
The victims were implicated in the trap
According to the victims, the accused contacted themselves as a stock market analysis firm’s broker (broker). Initially, he persuaded the victims to invest a small amount like Rs 35,000. Later, the accused instigated him to invest more money, causing the total investment to reach Rs 9.5 lakh. A statement issued by the CID said that the accused showed failure to return the invested amount, making it a clear fraud case.
Accused cheated by dummy sim card
The cybercrime team tracked the mobile phones of the accused and found that they illegally obtained dummy SIM card and carried out their operations. The five accused were arrested during a raid on a flat on Meera Road. Teams also seized 13 mobile phones, four debit cards and list of mobile numbers which were used to contact the victims.
