Mumbai Boat Accident: A boat carrying passengers from the Gateway of India to Elephanta Caves in Mumbai, Maharashtra capsized near Elephanta Island on Wednesday. Two people died in this accident, while five people are reported missing. However, 79 people have been rescued safely. After this accident, the Coast Guard, Marine Police and Navy have jointly started the rescue operation. Search is on for the missing passengers.

BMC said that there were a total of 85 passengers including the crew in this boat. So far 80 people have been rescued and 5 people are missing. The condition of four people admitted to the hospital is critical and two have died. The condition of the remaining people is stable.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wrote on social media: “We have received reports of an accident of a boat named Neelkamal, which was going towards Elephanta. Boats of Navy, Coast Guard, Port and police teams have been immediately dispatched to assist. We are in constant touch with the district and police administration and fortunately most of the citizens have been rescued. However, the rescue operation is still going on. Orders have been given to the district administration to deploy all necessary machinery for the rescue operation.
