A case of gang rape of a teenage girl has come to light on the outskirts of Vadodara city of Gujarat. Two unknown accused carried out this crime, during which a third of their accomplices had kept the girl’s friend hostage. The incident took place on Friday night, when a large number of young men and women go to different areas of the city to participate in Garba events organized across the city.
The victim told the police that she had gone to meet her childhood friend in Lakshmipura area of the city at around 11 pm. Giving information about the incident, Vadodara (Rural) Superintendent of Police Rohan Anand said, ‘Both were returning from Bhayli area on a scooter, when around midnight five people riding on two-wheelers stopped them on a deserted road.’
According to police, two of them left after some argument, while three others stayed back. Two of these three men raped the girl, while the third man kept her friend hostage. The police officer said, ‘As soon as the criminals left, the victim and her friend informed the police.’
According to the officer, as soon as the news was received, the police reached the spot, cordoned off the area and collected evidence. Along with this, teams have been formed to identify criminals using technical surveillance and other means.
